"Peer-reviewed studies have found harmful effects on the health of laboratory and
livestock animals fed GMOs. Effects include toxic and allergenic effects and altered
nutritional value." Dr Michael Antoniou
Monsanto who?
Who is Monsanto??
This weekend millions protested in 436 cities in 52 countries, yet it was hardly reported in the mainstream media. Try searching for news coverage and see what you can uncover. I found these:

In 1953 we learned how to decode DNA. The birth of GMO (genetically modified organisms). Since then companies, like Monsanto, have been modifying seeds to combat issues such as drought, pests and disease. Sounds good right? Sure…although with only ten years on the market, has enough testing been done?
I found this scientific article called ‘GMO Myths and Truths’ researched by Michael Antoniou, PhD King’s College London School of Medicine, London, UK.

Now, I can tell you what it’s like being tested on for science and I wouldn’t choose to do it again. When I was in serious debt, I saw a medical trial that was looking for people who had wisdom teeth that needed to come out. In return they would pay me some hard cash. Amazing! I had some of those. I signed up.
What followed was one of my most vulnerable and painful experiences to date. They were in the second phase of testing a pain relief drug. I had two teeth out and unfortunately, the placebo…so when the anesthetic wore off………..I…..waaaaass…..in….AAAAA-GGGGOOOO-NNNNNNYYYY!!!!!
I sat in my white bed, in the plain white room looking at the other guinea pigs in their white gowns who were mostly sitting reading, clearly in no pain. Apart from my neighbour, a large Australian guy who was in tears. He must have had the placebo too. I called a nurse. I asked for some pain relief. She advised that I, JAC592, had signed a contract and I couldn’t take anything for another 2 hours. I waited; I grit my teeth until I couldn’t bare it any longer. My whole head was throbbing, I couldn’t think. I couldn’t see. I felt like someone was hacking into my gums with a blunt knife.
CONSTANT PAIN.
I think I then said something like, “If you don’t give me pain killers, I’ll go into the toilets and head butt the wall." So the nurse rightly decided to call for the doctor.
“JAC592 wants pain relief” (we guineas had no name). The doctor looked into my eyes, filled with tears. “If you have pain relief, you won’t be paid for the trial” he said.
No time was needed to decide on that one. I took the pills.
Worldwide, four cash crops continue to account for virtually all GM production: soybean (51 percent), corn (31 percent), cotton (13 percent), and canola (5 percent) http://www.worldwatch.org/node/5950
Monsanto has been removed and banned from: Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Japan, Luxembourg, Madeira, New Zealand, Peru, South Australia, Russia, France, Poland and Switzerland.
When will the UK take action? Who knows. So what to do in the meantime? Avoid soy and corn products made in the US, buy local and organic when possible and start growing your own! I have spent the day finding vessels to plant things in: an old sink, some old kettles, pots and have dug up some of the lawn to convert into a vegetable patch. Plus writing this, since I had originally drafted another part of my story…but this was way more important.
Happy researching. Please share.
